New Stuff Every Day

  • Dec. 5th, 2008 at 3:57 PM

Chad has been growing SO much! You can just watch and see him leaning constantly.  He's started doing a few new things recently.
He can get up into his booster chair all by himself, and he's starting to figure out how to buckle the belt on it (but he can't unbuckle yet, so that's good). He's getting really helpful! If I ask him to throw something away, bring something to me, put a toy away or something similar, he usually does it without a problem!
He's talking more...but he's still really shy, so he doesn't really talk around people he doesn't know very well; he is trying to communicate much more often though.
Oh, here's a good story.  This morning when Chad woke up, his bedding was wet from having gone potty quite a bit last night, so I needed to wash his sheets & blankets. He didn't really like that very much, but I told him it would be okay and he was alright with it.  I stuck them into the wash a little late and instead of trying to put him to bed with a different blanket (which doesn't work very well usually), I just had him wait until it was finished drying (he woke up late this morning, so it was okay).  At about 1:30, he came up to me with his puppy-dog and baby (his bed toys) and said "Bankie?"... So I went and got his blanket...it still had a couple of damp spots on it, so I told him just a few more minutes, and he kept coming up to me asking for it over and over, so I finally got it to where it was dry, and he RAN to his room, put his puppy and baby into the bed, then got up and laid down and waited for me to tuck him in, then said "Ni-night!"  It was SO cute! I just said "Ni-night" and gave him a kiss, and started laughing as I left the room, it was SO sweet, and I'm really glad that he knows and is usually happy to take his naps.

Thanksgiving

  • Dec. 1st, 2008 at 2:04 PM

So last week was Thanksgiving and we had a BIG shindig for the Holiday because this is the first year without my Aunt Becky here with us.  We had the dinner at my parent's house (it's the best sized and centered home for the amount of people we had come).  We made "Chocolate-Oatmeal No-Bake Cookies" and got there at about 11...most of the family that was coming was already there.  The guys were in the living room watching football and the gals were in the kitchen sitting at the table and chatting.  Cooking was mixed between the guys and gals throughout the day.
Sadie & her family showed around noon and they joined in with the chatting and fun.  It was really good to see a big group of our family all together playing and talking...which did get very rowdy at multiple times during the day...it was kinda scary actually, lol.
Memema brought 2 disposable cameras, so when she gets the CD and emails them around, I'll post some pics... MY camera is STILL MISSING!!! UGH!
Anyways, to sum that up, we had a great time spending time with our family. :)

We're still having a great time in our new ward... this last week, Chad stayed in nursery the whole time...but he got started crying every time the door opened...so Daddy had to go in one time, and I went in one time to help calm him down so he didn't have to get taken out.  Hopefully that means he's starting to get used to the kids and teachers in there... I just wish that the door wouldn't get opened every 5 min and get him thinking about Mommy & Daddy coming =-/

Interesting story:  Yesterday after we got home from church, I went walking into the kitchen to start working on dinner, and saw Chad with his right knee up on the kitchen table, and his left foot on one of the kitchen chairs and one arm reaching for the tape-measure (which we let him play with--with a bit of supervision)... It shocked me to see him up like that so bad that I said "Chad, what do you think your doing?!" And he immediately got ALL the way on the table and GRABBED the tape-measure while I was walking towards him to get him down... I didn't even know what to say! I was dumb-founded at his climbing that I just said "Chad, you don't climb onto the table, that's No No." and told him to come ASK for the tape-measure if he wanted to play with it... at which point he said "Peez!"  So after I gave him the tape-measure, I went and told Jeff what had happened through short bursts of laughter and shock!

Well, that's about it for now, so I'll update when there's more to tell. :)

Family Fun

  • Nov. 18th, 2008 at 4:22 PM

It's been pretty busy around here for the past month... I'm gonna just catch you up a bit.

A few weeks ago I had to go through and call several of the Doctor's offices in the area that were covered by our new insurance and find offices we liked, then we had to set up appointments, and meet with the Doctors that we were able to meet with. (a few Doctor's offices didn't allow you to meet with the Doctor unless you were having an actual checkup :-O ...I know, that's CRAZY right?!) But we finally found one that I liked, and that Chad seemed to be okay with (by that, I mean, he wasn't shy around him or anything! He talked to him and played with him a little while I talked to him even!!), so I feel confident that we found a doctor that would be good for the whole family--because we couldn't find any pediatricians that we liked--but that's okay. at least we'll get to know him and be comfortable with him and his office staff.

We've had some kind of cold floating around our family for the past couple of weeks.  I had it really bad, and Chad got it a little (thankfully!) and Jeff caught a bit more the Chad did... I think it was just a cold though, and we're all pretty much feeling better (except for Chad having a runny nose, which might just be allergies from the changing weather).

The new ward is GREAT! Everyone has been so kind in welcoming us in and introducing themselves to us.  I think we'll really like it here.. Chad has been having a hard time getting used to the new nursery, which is A LOT bigger then the old ones in the Arl. wards.. This is one of those wards that has the "Newly Weds & Barely Deads"...so it's has a really big primary, which is great! They actually have 2 Nursery's! It's awesome.  Chad likes his teacher, but the rest of the kids in the nursery are taking some getting used to on his part, I think it's because he's so shy - poor little guy.

Jeff's Mom wanted to get our little family some professional pictures taken, so she set up and paid for a full session with JC Penny's Photo dept (which we have scanned into the computer and I've already posted them to my scrapbook on here, so go check them out! ).

Anyways, I think I've pretty much caught you up on everything, and it's about time to start dinner, so I'll talk to ya later :)

Bitter/Sweet

  • Oct. 22nd, 2008 at 3:49 PM

The bitter part of our move is the actual moving process...that is never fun imo, the sweet is getting out of my in-law's house (they were very kind to allow us to live w/ them, but...c'mon...how can this NOT be sweet? lol)

So a few months ago we decided to look for a new home.  We found History Maker Homes and decided to have a home built by them.  After a few problems (economy issues, the norm home-buying problems, etc), we have finally gotten into our new home, but not before having to live with Jeff's parents for a few months while we waited for it to be built.  You see, when we signed up to have the home built, we already had a mortgage in our name that we had to sell... so we had 2 options: move into an apartment for a few months and save no money, or move in with Jeff's parents and pay off the car and save some money up before moving into our new home; we chose Jeff's parents.  We really appreciate Jeff's parents allowing us to move in with them and invade their space for the time that the home was being built, and it was hard on all parties during the time, but we are SO happy to be in our own home again (as are Jeff's parents)!!  BTW, thanks to Jeff's parents (at the cost of ours and their sanity, lol), we are living debt free (with exception of our home)...no credit cards, no cars in loan!

We signed papers on the house on 10/14/08 and spent the first night on 10/18/08.  Oh, and TY to the people who helped us move in!!!  We appreciate all the help that we received!  I'll post some pictures as soon as i can find my camera, cuz it's gone missing in the move =/  I'm sure we'll find it as we finish unpacking everything... but for the meantime, just know that we are happy and our house is great!!

Oh! BTW, I'll go ahead and tell ya about the internet issue...
Jeff wanted to get DSL, but apparently it's not available here in our neighborhood (we live in the sticks now-a-days)... although anything but dial-up would be MORE THEN FINE! (Jeff's parents can only get dial-up or satellite)  So Jeff got on AT&T's website and started signing up for service on 10/16 (Monday). He went through the WHOLE thing to sign up for a deal that had U-Verse internet and most watched 100 channels... got to the very end and saw that the first day that they could have it installed was NOVEMBER 3rd... I was like, ummm NO! and told him that I'd call and see what I could do, and if nothing else, we'd see about cable internet.  After speaking with a few different people and being transfered about 4 times and threatening to go with another company, I got the deal I wanted for cheaper then it was shown on-line and got the installation date on 10/21/08.  THANK YOU to the power of a competitive market!  :)

Update on Hyatt Family

  • Jul. 16th, 2008 at 4:49 PM

So I haven't gotten on in a while to update on the Hyatt Clan, so here we go...

We are in the process of having a home built right north of Burleson and we're living with Jeff's parents while we wait for it. It should be ready in about 4 months or so...give or take. I'll post pics as it gets built cuz we're not too far away from it at the moment.
Chad is doing well, he's 16 months old and is growing steadily and learning really fast! He's turning into a little parrot and repeating EVERYTHING! Example: His FIRST WORD was "sissly!" (which means Seriously something Daddy and I say a lot, lol)

Oh, here's a little update that's not the best of news: We went over to my sister's for Joey's birthday/pool party last weekend, it was a lot of fun, but we realized afterword that we should have put sun screen on. We put plenty all over Chad, but didn't do it on ourselves :-/ So Jeff and I have been treating our burns for the past few days. Jeff's has been MUCH worse then mine as he has blister's all over his shoulders. He missed the past 2 days at work because it's given him a ton of pain to have a shirt on. He went in today and has still been in a lot of pain, but he's feeling better then he has been.

Anyways, I'm gonna end with that, I'll be posting some new pics onto the journal scrapbook, so check them out too.

President Gordon B. Hinckley

  • Feb. 8th, 2008 at 10:34 AM

The prophet and leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed away at the ripe old age of 97 on Jan 27th of this year. His wisdom and guidance helped me through several hard times in my life and I will miss having him be my living prophet, I don't feel sad for him, but for myself. I feel really happy that he was able to go home and be with his wife and loved ones who had already moved on to continue living their life in spirit.
His teachings will live on in the lives of the many men, women and children that he touched. We pray for the family of President Hinckley and hope that they will be proud of the man Gordon B. Hinckley, because I sure am!

Chad laughing

  • Nov. 24th, 2007 at 10:10 PM

Chad was playing on the floor, made it to the kitchen and I started tossing these rings over toward him and he was cracking up laughing, so we recorded it and posted to YouTube cuz we thought it was pretty funny...go rate it!

Continually Learning & Growing

  • Nov. 1st, 2007 at 9:19 AM

When it was time for breakfast this morning, I put Chad in his high-chair & put some cheerios on his tray (which I always do, so that I can give him a Cheerio while fixing his food) and he immediately grabbed one and stuffed it into his mouth as though he had been doing it all this time! He's been able to grab them and everything for a while now, but this was the first time that he looked like he did the whole thing on purpose. He is SO much fun to watch!

BaBaBaBaBa...

  • Oct. 24th, 2007 at 9:14 PM

Chad woke up from one of his naps today and instead of doing the incoherant noises he usually makes, I noticed that he was doing BaBaBaBa... Its so fun to watch him learning! This is one of the milestones that the doctor makes sure he is able to do (usually w/in the 6-9month range)...doing the consonant-vowel gibbering. I'm so excited!
I know I'm a big dork for getting happy about him doing BaBaBa, but its a milestone. So there! :)

World of Warcraft

  • Oct. 3rd, 2007 at 10:49 AM

~~Warning: This post may be very boring to anyone who has never been addicted to anything in their lives, because that is what this post is about...getting over an addiction.~~
When Jeff received a phone call from his brother quite a few months ago, neither of us knew that it would lead to a whole new world that I had certainly never dreamed that I would become a part of.
Jeff created a character on WoW, and soon after, I wanted to do so as well so that I could share in his experiences there and have something that we could do together. I never thought it would go anywhere, seeing as I've never been the video-game type. I was pregnant with my son when we started, and now he is 6 1/2 months old. We haven't been paying as much attention to him, the house, or our real life selves as much as we should have been; so we decided last night to quit playing World of Warcraft. This was a very difficult decision to make, seeing as we met alot of great people and made friends with most of them. We had our fun, but now its time for us to be adults. It was hard to say goodbye, but it had to be done sooner or later. Better it be done sooner rather then later, but that doesn't make it any easier.

Trying

  • Aug. 22nd, 2007 at 7:57 AM

Sometimes it can be very difficult to stay at home and keep it clean. I'm finding myself frustrated with having to do the same housework day-in & day-out! I know it needs to get done, but that doesn't change the fact the it irritates me sometimes to no end to have to do the same thing every day.
I realize that Jeff gets frustrated by having to go to work all day, everyday and wishes he could be at home with myself and Chad and watch him as he learns; but he continues to go and do the best work he can so that he can continue to provide for his family. I so appreciate everything he does for us and that he acknowledges what I do around the house every day (not all men do that for their wives...they just put it off like nothing special).
I love both Jeff and Chad very much and I'm so glad that we aren't having *many* problems paying all the bills from having Chad. I look at my sister and her two kids and realize that we are so blessed to be able to be organized enough to get all these bills paid off and just take them one by one. We are having to pay more then my sister did with her kids because my insurance kinda denied Chad as covered as we didn't call them within 31 days after he was born, which we are paying dearly for. We've learned a great lesson that we have to read over the insurance booklet very carefully in the future before doing anything else big.
But to update on Chad: I know he knows how to roll over from his back to his belly, but he's just being lazy (lol!); he has been doing more raspberries, which is hilarious & cute all at the same time, except when he's doing it while he's eating his cereal (GRRR!!!); he's moving into 6-9 month cloths ALL READY!!! He's not that chubby, just long! I think he's gonna be taller then his Uncle Mike, who is like 6'4 or something; and he is learning so much... He's learning "Mommy" & "Daddy", and I believe he's learning "Ammy"(my mom) & possibly "Poppy"(my dad) because he sees them more then he sees "Nanna"(jeff's mom) & "Papi"(jeff's dad), who he knows, but hasn't learned their names yet~~(not to say he can SAY their names, but when we say "Where's Ammy?" and he'll look at her...that kinda thing.
Anyway, it really does feel better to get all that off my chest and into writing so that I can know what it is that I'm feeling and why exactly. Writing (or typing in this case) is very therapeutic for me so I should really do it more often... Ah, whatever!

Better Behaved...sometimes

  • Jul. 25th, 2007 at 6:13 PM

Its been a while, I know... But the kiddo has gotten really big now! He now does lots of fun stuff: He plays and talks to his hands, feet & toys; Eats and sleeps on a regular basis; Eats rice cereal every evening (has figured out how to raspberry in the air, which gets food all over me while I'm trying to feed him); Rolls over from his tummy to back (he's been doing this for a while, but its still funny); & still loves his tummy time. We're gonna have to take him in to a specialist for the flat spot on the back of his head... they have free consults, so we're gonna go and have it checked out to see if he'll need a helmet for it (I'll let you know when we know anything) on Tuesday. I've posted some new pics of Chad in my album on my photobucket & my myspace... I'll put the link on this once I have it so you can see my Baby Chad pics, if you want to.

Update

  • Nov. 25th, 2006 at 2:47 PM

I keep forgetting to update about everything...

First:
The Tupperware Party was okay... I flipped out on my house and cleaned like a mad woman w/ too much estrogen... It wasn't that my house was really dirty, on the contrary, it was very clean; its just that one thing led to another and I ended up pulling out the Furniture Polish, Windex, & Pine-sol & cleaning everything that I could see.
After cleaning the house, my sister came to set up her Tupperware stuff, then my mom showed up, then 2 other people: one who stayed though the whole party, the other just came in and saw some stuff, then left (she was getting gasoline for her son to mow the lawn & didn't have too much time). Yeah.

Second:
Sharing Time went very well! Hubby & I went to see Happy Feet on Saturday night (which I thought was really cute), & when we got home, I got to work putting the finishing touches on Sharing Time & my lesson for class. It was great! The kids had a blast & learned a bit more about the Book of Mormon & Heavenly Father keeping His promises when we do what He commands, the other teachers helped out (and also had alot of fun), and I was just really glad that all went well.

I guess that's what I'll leave it too for now... Hubby & I need to get a Christmas Tree & set it up & all that good stuff...

Sharing Time

  • Nov. 13th, 2006 at 6:29 PM

So I've finally decided what I'm going to do on Sunday for Sharing Time in Primary. I was sitting @ work reading my scriptures, and it hit me! I KNEW what I would do... I flipped my scriptures to 1 Nephi 3-4 (the story of Nephi, Sam, Lamen & Lemuel going to Jerusalem to get the plates) to read what I wanted to use.
I've got a friend bringing a crown & swords (For Laban & his guards) and I'm gonna get other props throughout this week to do this... The kids are gonna have a great time & they'll be learning about how Heavenly Father keeps his Promises to those who are Righteous & who keep His commandments. I'm so excited & I'll let you know how everything goes after the fact...
